Why I Run: Chanthana

Chanthana Tsai is one of the most positive and motivational people I have had the pleasure to meet. When I started training for the 2010 Chicago Marathon, I posted it on Twitter and she was one of the first people to start following me. Like a good Twitter user I followed her back and started realizing how running doesn’t have to only be an activity to stay in shape, it can become a lifestyle. Even though I am about 50% slower than her, she never made it seem like she was any better than me. Instead, she would push me and motivate me to do my best.

When we started up this “Why I” movement, she was one of the first people to come to mind as someone we could interview. Her positive outlook on running and life is a light that everyone needs in their life.

    Hi Chanthana,

It a pleasure to read about you and your aspirations with running! I have to say that running has changed my like. I have always been an athletes throughout grades school up until I was in high school joining the cross country team. Graduated twenties years ago. However, I have got into running intensly since the lady three years doing local 5k races. It was not into lady year when I got myself involved with the ING Marathon. I did my first half, finished under two hours limit. I will do another half this year again in October. I will definetly do my full by next year! My goal is to train hard and hopefully qualified for the Boston Marathon and continue on running for whichever goals it will take me. I love running. Runningbis my outlet, my me time alone to clear away the everyday stressed. I watch this video and it had commended me to continue on my force with no despair. You are such a great roll model as mother and a hardcore runner at the same time.

Keep up your hard work and keep on inspiring!

    Sincerely,

Your number one fan- Khannie Homsombath
